The Bugatti Bolide is a track-focused hypercar that pushes the boundaries of speed, performance, and engineering. Unveiled in 2020 as an experimental concept and later confirmed for limited production, the Bolide represents Bugatti’s vision of ultimate performance, stripped of all compromises for the track. Its name, derived from the French term for "racing car," underscores its singular focus on extreme speed and handling.

Key Features of the Bugatti Bolide

1. Engine and Performance

  • Engine: The Bolide is powered by an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the same engine found in the Bugatti Chiron, but extensively tuned for track use.
  • Power Output: Produces up to 1,850 horsepower and 1,850 Nm (1,364 lb-ft) of torque using 110-octane race fuel.
  • On regular fuel, the engine generates 1,578 horsepower.
  • Top Speed: Over 310 mph (500 km/h) (estimated).
  • Acceleration:
  • 0–62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.17 seconds.
  • 0–124 mph (200 km/h) in 4.36 seconds.
  • 0–186 mph (300 km/h) in 7.37 seconds.
  • Weight-to-Power Ratio: An incredible 0.67 kg per horsepower, thanks to its lightweight construction.

2. Lightweight Design

  • Weight: Weighs only 1,240 kg (2,733 lbs), significantly lighter than other Bugatti models.
  • Carbon Fiber Construction:
  • The monocoque chassis and body panels are made entirely from advanced carbon fiber composites for maximum rigidity and minimal weight.
  • Titanium Components:
  • Extensive use of titanium for suspension components and other structural elements further reduces weight.

3. Aerodynamics

  • Extreme Downforce:
  • At 200 mph (320 km/h), the Bolide generates 1,800 kg (3,968 lbs) of downforce on the rear wing and 800 kg (1,764 lbs) on the front wing.
  • Active Aerodynamics:
  • Features an adaptive air intake and adjustable wings to optimize airflow and stability at high speeds.
  • Advanced Cooling:
  • Innovative air ducts and intercooler systems manage heat generated by the massive W16 engine.

4. Handling and Suspension

  • Suspension: Race-spec suspension tuned for optimal track performance, offering exceptional grip and cornering ability.
  • Brakes: High-performance carbon-ceramic brakes for exceptional stopping power under extreme conditions.
  • Tires: Specially designed slick racing tires for maximum grip on the track.

5. Interior

  • Minimalist Cabin:
  • Focused purely on performance, the interior is stripped of unnecessary luxuries found in road-going Bugatti models.
  • Features lightweight racing seats, a race-spec steering wheel, and advanced telemetry systems.
  • Driver-Focused Design:
  • Ergonomics are tailored for high-speed racing, providing the driver with precise control and real-time data.

Exterior Design

  • Aggressive Styling:
  • The Bolide's design is dominated by sharp angles, massive aerodynamic components, and a low-slung, wide stance.
  • X-shaped Lighting:
  • The X-shaped LED lights at the front and rear give the Bolide a distinctive, futuristic look inspired by aircraft.
  • Functional Aesthetics:
  • Every element of the Bolide’s design serves a purpose, from the massive rear wing to the air scoops and diffusers.

Limited Production

Bugatti plans to produce only 40 units of the Bolide, each priced at approximately $4.3 million. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2024, with each unit being a highly customizable and exclusive masterpiece.
